Program Description:
Spend eight weeks in Paris participating in an internship and taking a Business French course with Dr. Anne Quinney. Dr. Quinney’s course will enhance the work experience you’ll have in a French workplace by providing valuable work culture information, resume creation for the French system, and provide you with valuable vocabulary for being successful in your internship.  You’ll earn 3 hours of BUS 380 for the internship and 3 hours of FR 311 for the summer. There will be numerous opportunities to assimilate into French culture through group meals, outings, and extracurricular activities.

Course Description: In this course, you will develop the vocabulary and cultural knowledge necessary for working in an international environment. You will learn about business structures and practices in the French and Francophone world as well as business communications skills, including advanced cultural competency. The majority of the semester will be focused on the skills required to obtain a position within a Francophone business.

Learning Outcomes: Students who successfully complete this course will have expanded their ability to:
  • Master basic terminology of business French
  • Find and decode a job announcement
  • Compose a cover letter and curriculum vitae in French
  • Prepare for a job interview and complete the interview process
  • Understand professional communication from email to bank statements to order forms
