PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT FOR UM FACULTY
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in developing a study abroad program at The University of Mississippi.  Whether you want to support the addition of a new exchange partner or choose to lead a short-term study abroad program, you may soon join the ranks of UM faculty who have found that giving students an overseas opportunity or teaching students in an international setting can be one of the most rewarding pedagogical experiences of their careers.

The Study Abroad Office wants to support your efforts in this process.  Please read through the Faculty and Advisor section and consult with the Study Abroad Office along the way.  We are happy to provide feedback, to advise based on previous experiences, and to encourage your progress.

Deadlines
Summer Program Proposals: September 1
Winter and Spring (Spring Break) Program Proposals: May 1
If you want to submit a proposal after the deadline, please contact the Study Abroad Office.

Submit a Proposal
To propose a faculty-directed program, you must first submit some basic course information, a tentative schedule, and a syllabus.  To begin the proposal, click "Apply Now" at the top of this page.

Clicking “Apply Now” will take you to a question about your login credentials.  Please click “I do not have login credentials for this site.”  The “go.olemiss.edu” login is for students only.  You can use any email address you prefer, and the confirmation email you receive will send you two links.  You should choose the “General non-OleMiss login” link rather than the “OleMiss users” which indicates students only.  We realize this is confusing, but just remember that you are not considered an Ole Miss user for the purposes of this website.  Your WebID and password do not work for this website - it's just like shopping online!

Step1
The first screenshot is the identification wizard.  You should choose the radio button saying you do not have login credentials.  The second screenshot shows your application page.  Click “Initial Program Proposal” to start the application.
step2

Upon review and approval by Study Abroad, which requires Study Abroad to also submit for approval to the appropriate chair and dean's office, we will work with you on program details including budget, itinerary, health and safety information, recruitment, and orientation.  You will be asked to submit additional materials through our website prior to departure and an evaluation and program report after the program ends.

The Study Abroad Office will advertise the program on our website, at our Study Abroad Fair (early February for Summer Programs and early September for Winter and Spring Break Programs), at class visits and browse fairs, in our office, at information sessions, through social media, and any other recruitment activities.  Remember that you, as the faculty member, are the key to ensuring that your program succeeds.  Encourage your fellow department faculty and advisors to discuss your program in classes and advising sessions.  Talk about your program in your classes and to organizations in which your participate.
