Global Ambassador and Students
GLOBAL AMBASSADORS

The purpose of the Global Ambassador program is to pair visiting international exchange and intensive English students with American students at the University of Mississippi in order to foster understanding and more open communication between these two groups.

Global Ambassadors are representatives of the University of Mississippi who help international exchange or intensive English students acclimate to life in Oxford. They do so by inviting them to social events and campus activities and introducing them to Ole Miss college traditions such as Groving, pep rallies, Greek life, and local arts. Each Global Ambassador will assist a group of two or three exchange students and will be paired with the group based on common interests and majors. International exchange and intensive English students come from universities across the globe: China, France, Ireland, South Korea, Australia, Germany, and Egypt… just to name a few.

If you are a current University of Mississippi student who is interested in getting to know people from across the world and would like to learn about other cultures while helping visiting international students integrate into the Oxford and Ole Miss Community throughout the semester, then this program is right for you!

GET INVOLVED ON CAMPUS

On our campus, Exchange students are not just visitors. You have the same opportunities to get involved as degree-seeking University of Mississippi students. We encourage our students to take advantage of all that is going on throughout the semester. Your Global Ambassador will also be a great resource for opportunities to get involved on campus. Below are links to just a couple of the ways you can fully experience campus.

Student Organizations
Campus Recreation
Ole Miss Outdoors
Ole Miss Box Office
Athletics & Sports Schedule
Community Service
Cultural Organizations

The International & American Student Alliance (IASA)
While several organizations exist to help degree-seeking International students adjust to life in Oxford (and do a great job at it), we focus more on building one-on-one relationships between International & American students and finding ways for them to connect. IASA was founded with the goal of bridging the gap between International Exchange and American students at Ole Miss.

The Ole Miss International Student Council (ISC)
The International Student Council (ISC) exists to represent the international student community at the University of Mississippi. To do this, ISC organizes events that showcase the cultures and lifestyles of the International Community, attempts to educate the UM community and create awareness about humanitarian issues around the world, provides opportunity for exchange of ideas among constituents and represent constituents before the administration of the University of Mississippi and the City of Oxford. ISC also advises its constituents in matters concerning them as members of the ISU community, provide educational and social services to its constituents and collaborate with the Office of Global Engagement for special programs and/or events.

ACTIVITIES AND EXCURSIONS
The Study Abroad Office also organizes activities and excursions specifically for exchange students. These activities will take place throughout each semester. We offer different opportunities every term, some of which will be free to exchange students. In the past we have taken day trips to Memphis to see a Memphis Grizzlies NBA game, Graceland, and the National Civil Rights Museum. We also have offered weekend excursions to Nashville, Atlanta, and New Orleans. These activities and excursions give students the opportunity to see several representations of American culture.
